Built in 1830s, the Glen Villa Lodge estate is one of the oldest estates in Mussoorie, originally built by Mrs. _____. It subsequently changed hands several times before it was bought by the Nabha Royal Family, however it was put up for auction by the Dharm atta Bank that had a lien on the property due to a loan default. It was finally purchased in a much contested auction by Kr. Abdul Jalil Khan of Dharampur in 1932 and used as a summer family retreat. The estate has ever since remain with the Dharampur family and was converted into a lodging hotel in 1972.
The family-run hotel has not undergone much change and part of the estate it still remains summer family getaway for the Dharampur family. Maintained and restored with care it retains its old-world atmosphere, a charming mix of Raj era architecture and luxury of princely lifestyles – while adding modern conveniences.
